We build the speech layer, not a wrapper on someone else's.
Bolo Labs LLC is the US entity. Voxaura Labs Pvt. Ltd., at the IIT Madras Incubation Cell, builds the recognition models, the Vaakya speech synthesis stack and the speaker separation the products run on.
That matters here for one specific reason: code-switched Indic-English speech is not something a general-purpose provider has any commercial reason to fix. Owning the acoustic model is what makes the wedge defensible rather than rented.
The research
- Code-switched recognition
- One multilingual acoustic model with a shared token inventory, conditioned on frame-level language ID every 40 ms — not several monolingual models behind a router that has to commit before the switch happens.
- Entities that straddle the switch point
- “blood pressure थोड़ा high है” — the clinical entity begins in one language and ends in another. A model that has to pick a language before the clause finishes returns half a fact, which is the specific failure this work exists to fix.
- Vaakya speech synthesis
- Twelve Indic languages plus US English, which is what lets Front Desk and Follow-Up speak back in the language the patient used.
- Speaker separation
- Three-plus speakers is the real case in this market — patient, clinician, and a family member interpreting — and it is common precisely because of the language gap the products exist to close.
